Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly Visits Laos

The Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly visited Laos between 4-6 November. Mr. László Kövér met his counterpart, Ms. Pany Yathotu, the President of the National Assembly of Laos, and paid a courtesy visit to President Choummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong.



The Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly visited Laos between 4-6 November. Mr. László Kövér met his counterpart, Ms. Pany Yathotu, the President of the National Assembly of Laos, and paid a courtesy visit to President Choummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong. Bilateral relations as well as economic, commercial and educational cooperation were at the center of talks, including the increasing of the number of available Hungarian scholarships for Lao students as well as cooperation in agriculture and food safety, to which Hungary contributes 30 million USD. As part of another ongoing project, Hungary offers help in strengthening the institutional capabilities of the Lao National Assembly. At a dinner hosted by the Embassy of Hungary, Mr. Kövér and his delegation met with members of the Lao-Hungarian Friendship Association, all former students of Hungarian universities with strong ties to Hungary and holding key government positions.
