Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and his delegation paid an official visit to the Lao PDR on 6-7th June 2016. In Vientiane, the minister conducted talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith and Minister of Industry and Commerce Khemmany Pholsena. The delegation paid courtesy calls on Prime Mminister Thongloun Sisoulith and Speaker of the National Assembly Pany Yathortou.
Mr. Szijjártó and Mr Kommasith signed the Educational Agreement between the Ministry of Human Resources of Hungary and the Ministry of Education of the Lao PDR, which provides 50 full scholarships annually for Lao students to Hungarian universities.
After the official visit to the capital, Mr. Szijjártó and Minister of Aagriculture Lien Thikeo inaugurated the Namxouang Meat Processing Factory, built and equipped by Hungarian companies through a Hungarian tied aid credit project. The factory is currently the most advanced, state-of-the-art food production site in Laos.
The recently adopted, 30mn USD-worth new tied aid credit project will enable approximately 60 Hungarian companies to enter the market of the Lao PDR and participate in building the country’s food production chain safety structures, Mr. Szijjártó told the press.
