H. E. János Áder, President of the Republic of Hungary paid an official visit to the Lao PDR, on October 24-27, at the invitation of President Bounnhang Vorachith to enhance the relations and cooperation between Laos and Hungary in multiple areas, especially in the field of sustainable development, water management, agriculture and education. President Áder held talks with his Laotian counterpart Bounnhang Vorachith, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and National Assembly President Pany Yathotu.

On 3rd of October, 2019 Mr. Uttama Savanayana Thai Finance Minister received Ambassador Szilveszter Bus, Ambassador. During the meeting the parties introduced their countries’ economic situation, aspirations and revealed a number of similarities between the two countries in the field of economic policy.

On 27 September 2019, H.E. Szilveszter Bus, Ambassador of Hungary to Thailand paid an official visit to H. E. Prawit Wongsuwon, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, who is also responsible to supervise the Office of National Water Resources. At the meeting, H.E Szilveszter Bus handed over the invitation of H.E Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary to the Deputy Prime Minister to attend the Budapest Water Summit in 2019. During the visit Ambassador Bus outlined Hungary’s flagship role in the field of water diplomacy and technology, while Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon praised Hungary’s water diplomacy activities, welcomed the ever closer cooperation between the two countries in the field of water management, and expressed his appreciation to Hungary for its higher education scholarships to Thai students.

On 7 March 2019 Ambassador Szilveszter Bus and our diplomats visited the Government House to meet with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and discuss the ever growing relations between Hungary and Thailand. We exchanged views and ideas about our solid and dynamic common portfolio from commerce to education, from water management to culture, from food safety to tourism promotion.

On 8th of February 2019 Ambassador Szilveszter Bus visited His Excellency Chatchai Sarikulya, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand also responsible for Thailand’s water management policy by overseeing the Office of Natural Water Resources.

It was a pleasure to pay a courtesy call on His Excellency Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Transport of Thailand. Ambassador Szilveszter Bus emphasized that Hungary may be a small country in size but quite significant when it comes to infrastructure thanks to its central location in Europe at crossroads of European transportation routes and the highly developed and dense transportation network.

We hereby inform our Customers, that the payment system of consular fees will be changed at the Embassy of Hungary in Bangkok from 1 February 2019.
The previously used cash payment in EUR will be cancelled, and from the 1 February 2019 only bank payment in THB will be accepted at the Consulate of Hungary in Bangkok.
Our customers will receive a bank payment voucher and the amount of the consular fee to be paid at the Embassy, and will be able to manage the payment at Bangkok Bank (1 minute walking distance from our Embassy).

On 26 November Ambassador Szilveszter Bus visited Mr. Sakoltee Phattiyakul, Deputy Governor of Bangkok in his office. Budapest and Bangkok have been sister cities since 1997. Budapest is one of the two European capitals with which Bangkok has such agreement.

On 18th of November Hungary took over the flag from Thailand to organize World Robot Olympiad finals in 2019. Hungary will be the first European country to the finals of one of the most prestigious student competitions in the world.
During the closing ceremony of World Robot Olympiad 2018 in Chiang Mai, Mr Szilveszter Bus, Ambassador of Hungary, congratulated Thailand for the successful organization of the event which attracted 486 student teams from 63 countries. He emphasized the importance of an increased cooperation between Europe and Asia’s innovation hubs, Hungary’s achievements in innovation and its dedication to be a research hub in Central Europe.
