Hungary signed a new tied aid loan agreement with Laos

The National Tourism Agencies of the Visegrád Group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) in cooperation with our Embassies held a Promotional Road Show in Bangkok on the 2nd of October under the title “Discover Central Europe”.
On the occasion of National Thai Language Day a ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Culture at the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Center in Bangkok on 27 July 2017. Upon the invitation of the Ministry of Culture our Embassy produced a short video clip expressing our respect for the Thai language and culture as well as demonstrating the importance of the use of Thai language during the daily work of our mission.
Hungary will launch the biggest ever fixed aid credit programme worth USD 160 million in Laos, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on 31st May 2017 in Budapest after having talks with his Lao counterpart.
The Embassy together with our Czech, Polish and Slovak partners as well as the Center for European Studies and Center for Innovation organized a Thailand-V4 Workshop on Business, Culture, R+D, Start-Up and Innovation at Chulalongkorn University.
On the occasion of the 135th anniversary of the birth of the great Hungarian composer and ethnomusicologist Zoltán Kodály, the Embassy of Hungary in Bangkok organized an open-air piano concert and workshops to introduce Kodály’s works, followed by multiple presentations of the world-famous Kodály-method (inscribed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage) for various age groups. Hungarian pianist Marcell Pető performed an open-air public piano concert on the bandstand of Bangkok’s central Lumphini Park on 27th April, 2017. Works of Kodály performed at the concert attracted numerous Bangkokian music-lovers to the pavilion.
The Embassy, together with the Centre for European Studies organised a concert to celebrate the 135th Anniversary of the birth of Hungarian composer Béla Bartók at the Concert Hall of Chulalongkorn University, conducted by Maestro Somtow Sucharitkul on 25 April 2017.
We were proud to pay hommage to the 1956 Hungarian Revolution with the screening of the Hungarian movie 'Children of Glory' at Chulalongkorn University. In cooperation with the Centre for European Studies and the BALAC programme, the event took place in front of an enthusiastic crowd of students, diplomats, movie lovers and Hungarians living in Bangkok. We were honoured by the presence of leading Thai film critic Kong Rithdee, who discussed the piece with students and addressed questions of the public. Before the event, the audience could see an exhibition on the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and a brief presentation of award-winning Hungarian short films.
On the occasion of the Hungarian National Day on 15 March the Embassy hosted a reception to the members of the Hungarian community living in Thailand. During the event, H.E. Ambassador Péter Jakab conferred the Hungarian State Award of the Golden Cross of Merit upon Mr. Pipat Paniangvait, CEO of Thai President Foods Company and Honorary Director of the Thai Chamber of Commerce bestowed upon him by the President of the Republic of Hungary, H.E. János Áder. As part of the cultural program celebrated fellow Hungarian violinist, Mr. Jonathon Glonek and Mr. Ákos Szilágyi, professor at the College of Music of Mahidol University, performed classical masterpieces and traditional Hungarian folk music.
We were proud to present the award-winning Hungarian movie 'White God' on 11 March in Bangkok, at TK Park as part of the Contemporary World Film Series, followed by a cocktail reception with Hungarian wine and delicacies.
