Ms. Helga Gal, Hungary’s Wine Ambassador and gastronomy advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade visited Bangkok between 16-17 December and held a series of wine tasting events at the Embassy to showcase the Foreign Affairs’ wine collection.
Along with seven other embassies in Bangkok, the Embassy of Hungary has offered a hand-painted Christmas ball with traditional motifs to Central Embassy’s wonderful interactive Christmas decoration called 'The Lapland Fairground' .
The Centre for European Studies at Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, and the Embassy of Hungary in Bangkok, opened the “Hungarians Exploring the Orient” Exhibition on 24 November at the Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Building of the University.
The Water Forum titled “Water-saving Technologies for a Green City” organized by the Embassy of Hungary in Bangkok was a great success, with representatives across the full spectrum of Thailand’s water and renewables sector. The forum was opened by Amorn Kitchawengkul, deputy governor of Bangkok. Bangkok and the Hungarian capital Budapest are sister cities. The aim of the organizers was to kick start cooperation and regular dialogue between Thailand’s water resources management authorities and their Hungarian counterparts and find specific areas of project cooperation between Thai and Hungarian enterprises.
Hungary was proudly present among various nations participating at the 62nd YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar held between 20-22 November at the Cental World Shopping Mall. Her Majesty Princess Soamsawali, the patron of the prestigious charity even, visited the Hungarian booth where she was welcomed by H.E. Ambassador Peter Jakab and his wife, and selected to buy the Rex Ciborum foie gras pâté . The proceeds of the event were raised for charity and humanitarian purposes. Sponsors visiting the Hungarian national booth had a variety of world-renowned Hungarian products to choose from, including chocolates, porcelain products and traditional hand-made products including embroidered blouses.
The Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly visited Laos between 4-6 November. Mr. László Kövér met his counterpart, Ms. Pany Yathotu, the President of the National Assembly of Laos, and paid a courtesy visit to President Choummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong.
Celebrating the auspicious occasion of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn ’s 60th Birthday, the world-renowned Budapest Operetta and Musical Theater gave a spectacular performance at the 26th Toyota Classics Charity Concert on 25 October at the Thailand Cultural Center’s Main Hall.

The Hungarian-Thai Joint Economic Committee met in Budapest on 10-11 September. The event was hosted by the co-chair of the committee, Levente Magyar, Minister of State for Economic Diplomacy at The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Mr. Magyar stressed that water management is of key importance among the many areas of cooperation outlined at the meeting.
