On 26 November Ambassador Szilveszter Bus visited Mr. Sakoltee Phattiyakul, Deputy Governor of Bangkok in his office. Budapest and Bangkok have been sister cities since 1997. Budapest is one of the two European capitals with which Bangkok has such agreement.

At the meeting  our Ambassador talked about the Hungarian know how in the area of water management. He informed the Vice Governor that Hungary, as one of the leading nations in water diplomacy, will host the Budapest Water Summit for the third time in October 2019. He stressed that Budapest can offer valuable experience regarding smart city solutions that are more and more integral parts of a modern, global city life. Ambassador Szilveszter Bus also informed the Vice Governor of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program through which Hungary, as a medium size country with a very successful economy and world class academic and research institutions, is offering its knowledge in areas that are crucial for the development of our partners.

This is the first academic year that Hungary welcomed Thai students in this scheme that is fully financed by the Hungarian government.
