The Embassy, together with the Centre for European Studies organised a concert to celebrate the 135th Anniversary of the birth of Hungarian composer Béla Bartók at the Concert Hall of Chulalongkorn University, conducted by Maestro Somtow Sucharitkul on 25 April 2017. From Mikrokosmos, through the 44 Violin Duos and String Quartet No. 6, to the Miraculous Mandarin, many of Bartók’s works were presented in Thailand for the first time ever. We would like to express our gratitude to Chulalongkorn University for hosting this event, Maestro Somtow and all the great musicians of Siam Sinfonietta and the Immanuel Children’s Orchestra for making all this possible. We would like to convey our special thanks to Hungarian violin virtuoso Vilmos Oláh for bringing his extraordinary performance to Bangkok.
