Get SMART in HUNGARY, the Embassy’s event promoting Hungarian innovation and higher education organized jointly with Chulalongkorn University took place on the 13th of January 2018 in Bangkok at the highly prestigious University.

The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program opens for the first time for Thai students in the academic year of 2018/2019 offering opportunities to study in Hungary.

On this occasion we also presented the exhibition entitled “SMART HUNGARY- Scientists, Inventors, Innovators”, arranged with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, about Hungarian innovations which played an important role in global scientific development. Academics, high school and university students could gain insights into studying and doing research in Hungary, a country famous of its inventions, innovations and scientific achievements.

One of the innovations displayed at our exhibition is “Gömböc” which was first introduced to the public in Asia in the Hungarian pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. In appreciation of our Embassy’s longstanding cooperation with Chulalongkorn University Ambassador Péter Jakab presented to Professor Bundhit Eua-arporn, President of Chulalongkorn University a unique Gömböc specimen, bearing the date 1917, specifically manufactured for Chulalongkorn University with the University’s foundation date engraved.
