On 7 March 2019 Ambassador Szilveszter Bus and our diplomats visited the Government House to meet with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and discuss the ever growing relations between Hungary and Thailand. We exchanged views and ideas about our solid and dynamic common portfolio from commerce to education, from water management to culture, from food safety to tourism promotion.

Prime Minister Prayut was pleased to hear that in 2018 Thailand became Hungary’s number one trading partner within the ASEAN, but we endeavour to achieve even more, based upon our principle of mutual respect and a pragmatic approach. Ambassador Bus emphasized that Hungary respects its partners' sovereignty, and expressed his best wishes to the Thai nation concerning the coming elections and creating a sustainable democracy, as it is only the People - not foreign countries or external actors - who have the right to determine and influence the future of Thailand.
