European Partners (EU, Hungary, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Switzerland and United Kingdom) and representatives of the Government of the Lao PDR met on the 26th of September 2018 in Vientiane to reaffirm their commitment to the Joint Programming of development cooperation, which has positively contributed to development effectiveness and strengthened Europe-Lao PDR relations. Dr. Kikeo Chanthaboury, Vice-Minister of Planning and Investment of the Government of the Lao PDR and Mr. Leo Faber, Ambassador of the European Union to the Lao PDR, co-chaired the meeting to review the European Joint Programming Mid-term Report.

Hungary is an important contributor to the development goals of Lao PDR in the following key areas: agriculture, environment and governance. Furthermore, Hungary increased the number of scholarships available to Lao students by the Stipendium Hungaricum higher education scholarship to 50.
