How to apply for a Schengen visa 

First, please make sure whether or not you can apply for visa at our Embassy. In order to be able to apply, you must meet one of the three criteria below:

  1. Travel only to Hungary, OR
  2. If your visit includes more than one destination, Hungary must be the main destination in terms of the length or purpose of stay. This means that you stay the longest period of your trip in Hungary or the main purpose of your visit is to go to Hungary – for example, you go to a conference or business trip in Hungary for 5 days and then spend 6 days in another Schengen Member State on holiday, OR
  3. If no main destination can be determined (e.g. in a tourist trip with equal number of days in each country) you must enter the Schengen Area through Hungary.

 

 

Documents required for Schengen Visa APPLICANTIONs

(Please note that the lists below are not exhaustive and the consul reserves the right to request any additional documents at any time during the processing of an application)

Required from all applicants:

  • Valid travel document

  1. A wholly, legibly and fully completed and signed application form on the application number 37 and the last page, (The signature must be equivalent as one that shown on the passport of the applicant). Please noted that a child who is under 18 years, parents must sign on the application number 37 and the last page.

 

  1. A valid travel document satisfying the following criteria:
  • It contains at least two blank pages.
  • It has been issued within the previous 10 years.
  • Its validity extends at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States.

 

  1. A color photo with white background 1.5x2/2x2 inches (not older than 6 months); please attached a photo on the application form before you submit the documents.

 

  1. Travel medical insurance which is:
  • Valid for the whole Schengen area.
  • Covers the entire period of your trip.
  • Covers any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death, during your stay on the territory of the Schengen Member States.
  • The minimum coverage is EUR 30,000. (Please find here a list of accredited insurance companies in Thailand.)

 

  1. Certificate of legal residence. (Non-Thai citizens who have Hungarian Embassies/Consulates in their usual place of residence or another member state represents Hungary in visa issuance in their usual place of residence must present a permit that allows them to stay longer than 3 months in Thailand without having to leave the country. If you do not have a Hungarian Embassy at your usual place of residence you can find out whether any other Member State represents Hungary there by clicking here. If you do not have either a Hungarian Embassy/Consulate at your usual place of residence or another Member State representing Hungary in visa issuance, you can apply at any Hungarian Embassy/Consulate in the world.)

 

  1. Letter of intent written and signed by the applicant, in which explains the purpose of traveling, number of travel accompany with the details of passport and visa. Plan covering the whole

 

  1. Proof of necessary financial background. Bank statements of the last 3 months showing the regular income, savings account. Covering the flight ticket, insurance, accommodation, costs and expenses at least.

 

  1. Work certificate stating the wage and/or business registration stating the ownership.

 

  1. Birth, marriage certificate if necessary. (E.g.: children travelling.)

 

  1. Visa fee is payable via money transfer or deposit and in THB currency at Bangkok Bank on the same day as the application.
  • THB 3438 for adults (more than 12 years)
  • THB 1719 for children (between 6-12 years)
  • Free of charge for children under six.

Documents required for each purpose

 

  •  
  • Itinerary.
  • Round trip flight booking.
  • Proof of accommodation covering all the trip (e.g. hotel booking).
  • Proof of financial means (banks statement or bank certificate or a copy of bank book for the past 3 months) The last transaction must be updated not later than 7 days.
  • Certificate of employment (document from the employer stating the applicant’s position in the company, period of employment, salary and period of holidays granted). The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.
  • Business registration (in case of business owners) The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.
  • Proof of school attendance (in case of children) The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.
  • For a minor who is traveling alone, consent from custodian (birth certificate or proof of custodianship) issued by the district office.
  • Letter of sponsorship in case of financial support from parents.
  • Letter of intent from the inviter stating purpose of travel, plan trip, relationship between the inviter and the applicant.
  • A copy of inviter’s passport or card of residence.
  • Inviter’s property contract or title deed.
  • Round trip flight booking.
  • Proof of accommodation covering all the trip (if applicant is not staying with the host).
  • Proof of financial means (banks statement or bank certificate or a copy of bank book for the past 3 months) The last transaction must be updated not later than 7 days.
  • Certificate of employment (document from the employer stating the applicant’s position in the company, period of employment, salary and period of holidays granted). The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.
  • Business registration (in case of business owners) The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.
  • Proof of school attendance (in case of children) The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.

Business / Attending a conference

  • Round trip flight booking.
  • Proof of accommodation covering all the trip.
  • Letter of invitation by a company in Hungary or the organizers of the conference indicating the purpose, length and location of the conference and the contribution of the applicant to the event.
  • Letter by the home company or sending organization indicating the status of the applicant within the organization and that the applicant goes to the conference to represent the organization. The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.

  • Business registration (in case of business owners) The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.
  • Proof of financial means (banks statement or bank certificate or a copy of bank book for the past 3 months) The last transaction must be updated not later than 7 days.

 

Participation in a sporting event

  • Round trip flight booking.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Letter by the organizers of the sporting event indicating the length and the type of event in which the applicant will participate.
  • Letter by the applicant’s sports organization (club, association etc.) indicating the position of the applicant within the organization (athlete, manager etc.) and his role in the sporting event. The certificate has to be valid for one month after issuing.

  • Proof of financial of the organization that covers the expenses. (Banks statement or bank certificate or a copy of bank book for the past 3 months.) The last transaction must be updated not later than 7 days.
  • Flight booking.
  • Official letter or note from the requesting government or its institution informing the Embassy about the applicant’s position as well as the purpose and length of his visit.

  • Proof of financial means. (Banks statement or bank certificate or a copy of bank book for the past 3 months.) The last transaction must be updated not later than 7 days.
